Your total satisfaction is my only goal. Because I value your patronage, I want to address any privacy concerns you may have. To that end, I have set forth my privacy policy for handling the information you share with me online. I want your decision to do business with me to be an informed one.
1. Collecting Information
When you visit my Website, I may collect information about you that you voluntarily choose to share with us. This identification information may include, but is not limited to, your name, your physical address, your e-mail address, your telephone and fax numbers, details of your human resources, job search, and or coaching needs, and other details of your life. What may be less obvious to you is that, when you visit my Website, I may collect data involving your usage through the use of “cookies” (i.e. small text files placed on your computer by a Website), Web server logs, and other Web tools. This technology allows me to customize your online experience, as well as track your Internet use. The tracking data I collect may include, but is not limited to, the date and time you visit, the time you spend, the Web pages you view, the other Websites you visit, your search queries, and basic information about your computer, such as your Internet Protocol (“IP”) address, your domain name, your browser type, and the name of your Internet service provider. You may deactivate cookies if you do not want your browsing to be tracked, but doing so may hinder your online experience. When visiting my Website, you may be directed, through hyperlinks, to other Websites that are beyond my control. Furthermore, when you are visiting my Website, other companies, such as third party advertisers and sponsors, may be gathering information about you. This Privacy Policy does not cover the collection of information by those other companies and Websites. Although I encourage third parties to provide their own privacy policies, I am not responsible for their activities, such as how they handle the information they collect online.
2. Using Information Collected
I primarily use the identification information you voluntarily share with me to customize your online experience and to do what you have asked of us. I also use your identification information to tell you about my products and services, but you may instruct me not to send communications to you by following the procedure indicated below under “Contact.” On occasion, I use your identification information to validate your identity. As for usage tracking data, I primarily use that information to operate and improve my Website, and to further my marketing efforts. As a general rule, I do not share your information with unaffiliated third parties. I may, however, share your information with my own personnel and my service providers, if any, to the extent necessary to fulfill your requests. I may also share your information with my affiliates, if any, but I will not share it with unaffiliated third parties for direct marketing purposes. I reserve the right to disclose your information under limited circumstances, such as to cooperate with law enforcement or judicial authorities as required by law or legal process, to protect my own legal rights, or to protect the public good. Whenever you are online, you run the risk that the information you give out will fall into the wrong hands. Although I implement and maintain reasonable security procedures and practices to safeguard your privacy, I cannot guarantee the security of any information you provide to us. I accept no responsibility or liability for the activities of third parties.
3. Updating Information
If you would like to review the information about you that I have collected through my Website, or to change that information, you can make that request by following the procedure indicated below under “Contact.” I may require that you verify your identity before I process your request.
4. Updating My Privacy Policy
I may, from time to time, change my Privacy Policy. I will notify you of any changes by posting my updated Privacy Policy on my Website by inserting a new “Effective Date.”
5. Contacting Me
If you would like to send me a request as indicated above, or if you have any other questions or concerns regarding my Privacy Policy, you may get in touch by using my contact form.
6. California Specific Rules About Your Data
I take all reasonable steps when destroying customer records containing “personal information” by shredding, erasing, or otherwise modifying the personal information to make it unreadable or undecipherable through any means. California law broadly defines “personal information” as any information that identifies, relates to, describes, or is capable of being associated with, a particular person. This California law, which came into effect on January 1, 2001, is set forth at California Civil Code sections 1798.80 and 1798.81.
California law also generally requires a business to implement and maintain reasonable security procedures and practices to protect from unauthorized access certain personal information of a more sensitive nature (such as social security numbers, driver’s license numbers, and account numbers). If a business discloses this type of personal information pursuant to a contract with a nonaffiliated third party, the business must require by contract that the third party also implements and maintains reasonable security procedures and practices. This law, which came into effect on January 1, 2005, is fully set forth at California Civil Code section 1798.81.5. I comply with this policy, where appropriate (I generally do not collect this type of information from you, so I will comply only when I have this information and it is being disclosed to a non-affiliated third party).
7. Effective Date
This Privacy Policy is effective as of June 1, 2005; revised December 2009.
